The Keurig 2.0 is a compact and convenient machine that brews an amazing cup of coffee. Just like with any other kitchen appliance, it requires a little care and maintenance once in a while. Taking proper care of your Keurig 2.0 should not take more than a few minutes each week and will make your machine last a lot longer. It is also important to know a few things about common issues encountered with this machine.
One of the most common issues that might require you to use a Keurig 2.0 maintenance tool is that the machine sometimes becomes clogged with coffee or with cocoa mix. This is difficult to trouble shoot since you will not see the actual problem until you take the machine apart. If your coffee machine is not brewing a full cup even though there is enough water, it might be clogged.
In some cases, the exit needle of the machine may be clogged, which results in coffee or cocoa grounds being present in your coffee. Note that your machine might still be brewing a full cup if it is only partially clogged.
Cleaning the exit needle of your Keurig 2.0 requires you to take the entire K-Cup Holder out of the machine. Open the cover and gently lift the K-Cup Holder. The best way to remove the assembly is to gently lift it with one hand while using your other hand to push the bottom of the K-Cup assembly out of the machine.
The next step is to clean the funnel of the K-Cup Holder. You can do this with some hot water and dish soap or can put the part in your dishwasher. You should clean the K-Cup Holder once in a while even if your machine is not clogged.
You also need to clean the exit needle of the K-Cup Holder. This needle might be clogged and could prevent your machine from working properly. You are going to need a Keurig 2.0 maintenance tool such a a small paper clip or another similar object that will fit in the exit needle.
The exit needle has a small opening on its side that you should use to carefully remove any coffee or cocoa mix grounds present in the needle with a paper clip. Do not try fitting a paper clip or other similar object all the way through the exit needle.
You should also descale your Keurig 2.0 at least twice a year. Descaling is the best way to thoroughly clean the machine to keep it working properly. All you have to do is fill the water reservoir with a special descaling solution, add some water and let the machine brew. Run some water again through the machine to eliminate any traces of the descaling solution.
It is important to take good care of your coffee machine so you can always brew a perfect cup of coffee or cocoa. Contact the manufacturer if descaling or unclogging your machine did not fix the problem.
